Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln (West German Broadcasting Cologne, WDR), a catering customer of the multi-service provider Klüh since 2018, has commissioned the Düsseldorf-based family business to cater for its employees in Cologne city centre from 1 February 2023. Over the past few years, the broadcaster has already been able to gain positive experience with the existing supply services at the production site in Cologne-Bocklemünd and at the broadcasting centre in Düsseldorf.
“We are delighted by the trust placed in us by WDR and also see this as confirmation of our competence as a quality provider with a high standard of customer-specific food concepts, which we develop in discussions and on-site visits”, explains Thorsten Greth, Managing Director of Klüh Catering.
The contract covers breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as optional catering for conferences and special events. Klüh Catering offers the WDR employees high quality, sustainably focussed catering with an extensive range of dishes which place great emphasis on fresh products as well as varied and appealing presentation. The dishes are therefore largely prepared fresh in front of the diners using the front cooking method. A dessert station, soups and a selection of takeaway options complete the range.
To give the diners a sense of the environmental footprint of the meals on offer, Klüh displays the sustainability value of each dish on site as well as in the Klüh Catering app. Here, not only the standard CO2 value is determined, but also factors such as water consumption, rainforest deforestation and animal welfare. Other functions of the Klüh Catering app include nutritional information on the daily menu, information on allergens and additives, special offers, culinary promotions and promotional dishes.
