The HUK-COBURG insurance group has commissioned Klüh Catering to cater for its employees at two locations at its headquarters in Coburg starting on 1 January 2024. The contract covers a term of three years and includes a wide range of catering services for around 6,000 employees.
The culinary offer includes breakfast and lunch in two company restaurants, snacks in three cafeterias, catering in the company daycare centre “Wuselwald”, conference service as well as hospitality for board meetings and events. Klüh is committed to providing high-quality catering with fresh produce, front cooking, its own baked goods, barista coffee, fine dining and all-day conference catering.
The Klüh Catering app gives the diners in Coburg access to information such as nutritional and sustainability data, information on allergens and additives, special offers, culinary promotions and special dishes. To make the ordering and production processes efficient and clear for the customer, Klüh uses the company’s own inventory management system DigiSupply. The software solution transparently and reliably displays everything from ingredients to the meal plan in accordance with the required verification obligations and labelling regulations. DigiSupply can also be used to display sustainability values such as CO2 emissions, water consumption and Nutri-Score per meal.
In addition, Klüh deploys a waste management system on site to avoid food waste. The system uses a camera, scales and sophisticated background technology to photograph the waste and automatically assign it to different categories before it is disposed of. The data collected enables a detailed evaluation and, together with the kitchen team, recommendations are developed to reduce waste in the future. Optimising the menu and portion sizes in line with these recommendations makes it possible to reduce food waste by up to 50 percent.
Klüh’s inclusion cooperation with Heinrich Schaumberger Schule, Schule am Hofgarten and Lebenshilfe Coburg also deserves particular mention. The aim is, in the context of the catering contract at HUK-COBURG, to provide people with disabilities with prospects and development opportunities in catering areas and to enable possible training and permanent employment so as to integrate them into the primary labour market.
