Klüh remains a partner for PRM services at Düsseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf Airport has once again awarded the contract for what are known as PRM services ("Passenger with Reduced Mobility") to Klüh with effect from 1 March. Specially trained employees from Klüh Security assist passengers with reduced mobility with boarding, disembarking and transferring, and ensure that procedures at the airport are barrier-free. The assistance is provided in accordance with EU Regulation 1107/2006, which concerns the rights of passengers with reduced mobility throughout the EU.

"We are delighted that Düsseldorf Airport continues to rely on our expertise in assisting passengers with reduced mobility. Our aim is to offer travellers with special needs a high level of comfort and safety. The contract extension confirms our commitment to quality and service at the highest level and underlines the airport's trust in our many years of expertise," explains Sven Horstmann, Managing Director of Klüh Security.

"We know that our PRM service is still in good hands with Klüh," explains Pradeep Pinakatt, Commercial Director and Labour Director of Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH. "For this purpose, the airport is providing its own vehicles for the first time. A total of twelve newly acquired scissor lift trucks and transporters with electric drive contribute to the sustainable transformation of the apron."

In addition to the contract for PRM services, Klüh has been responsible for comprehensive cleaning services as well as other essential transport and logistics services at Düsseldorf Airport since February. These include a shuttle service for flight crew from the hotel to the apron gate and to the parked aircraft and back, lost and found services for luggage including delivery to the passengers' home or accommodation, shuttle services for private car park operators and Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH and courier services within the airport.

Klüh has been an experienced and competent partner for airports, airlines and handling companies in Germany and internationally for over 40 years. Its core competencies comprise networked services which, alongside security, also include aircraft interior cleaning, on-board equipment, ramp and hangar operations, maintenance tasks, terminal cleaning, wheelchair services and assistance for passengers with restricted mobility.

With 20 million passengers in 2024, Düsseldorf Airport is the largest airport in NRW. From here, more than 60 airlines fly to over 160 destinations worldwide. Situated in one of Europe’s strongest economic regions, with 18 million inhabitants within a radius of 100 kilometres, Düsseldorf Airport serves a vital function in meeting the mobility needs of the citizens and the economy in North Rhine-Westphalia and the south-eastern Netherlands. Moreover, as the largest workplace in Düsseldorf, with over 20,000 jobs, the airport provides considerable employment impulses for the state.
